Beat the heat on a summer safari

Ekhaya Bush Villa – a cool safari option!

Chill out in style on Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate.

With spring in full swing and temperatures beginning to soar, we’re gearing up for summer here in the bustling little safari town of Hoedspruit, home of Ekhaya Bush Villa… It may be hot outside, but when you are staying in a really cool place like Ekhaya Bush Villa, the heat is hardly noticeable!

We’re cool figuratively and literally, with luxurious surroundings and first-class service at this wonderful home from home in the African bush. All of our en-suite guest rooms are air-conditioned, and Ekhaya is the perfect place for families and small groups of friends.

With so much to do on your doorstep, exploring the town of Hoedspruit and its surrounds and venturing into the wild of Africa on full-day safaris, Ekhaya really is one of the most special places in the Greater Kruger region.

Don’t forget that Ekhaya Bush Villa is also surrounded by its own amazing piece of wild Africa. It’s located on Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate, close to the centre of this lovely little bushveld town and home to a variety of wonderful wildlife, including giraffe, kudu and warthog.

The entire centre section of the estate has been left as a wilderness area and is traversed by a network of dirt roads, footpaths and cycle trails, meaning that you can go and explore whenever you like, either in a vehicle, on foot or on a mountain bike (which we can hire for you if you don’t bring your own!) So take advantage of what’s on your doorstep and this lovely little piece of African paradise!

Wonderful African vibe

At Ekhaya you are surrounded by colour, whether it’s the amazing plumage of the fabulous birds you can spot in our garden and on Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate, the lively African textiles you see all around you that make our decor so special or the mountains of fresh fruit that greet you every morning in our kitchen…

The birdlife is unbelievably good all year round, but with summer just around the corner you’re likely to see a wonderful array of colourful birds during your stay with us, so it’s a good idea to bring a good pair of binoculars with you and you won’t be disappointed, as just sitting for a while in Ekhaya’s beautiful garden will give you the chance to do some great birdwatching.

Or you can take a leisurely walk around the estate and along the winding trails in our wilderness area to see what you can spot. We can also arrange guided bird walks if you would prefer.

The funky, contemporary take on decor at Ekhaya combines the rich organic influences of the surrounding bush with bright, colourful tribal textiles and a diversity of textures, from intricate woven basketware to beaded artefacts and trinkets.

All of these eclectic ingredients add up to a fabulous home-from-home and the perfect base from which to explore the Greater Kruger National Park.

Fresh fruit plays an enormous role at Ekhaya, and there’s always a selection of scrumptious apples, citrus, bananas and other seasonal fruit laid out in our kitchen for guests to tuck into as the mood takes them, refreshed daily by our wonderful staff.

We also put slices into our drinking water at our permanent “waterhole” in the kitchen, adding a mix of refreshing flavours perfect for helping you to stay cool on a hot summer’s day.
