Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate Rules
To ensure that all our guests can enjoy their stay in peace and harmony with nature, we have established a set of guidelines.
We kindly ask you to adhere to these rules, as management may impose fines for transgressions.
Our goal is for you to have a pleasant experience amidst the beauty of the wildlife reserve.
Roads & Game Drives
As you are staying on a wildlife reserve, please adhere to the 30 km/h speed limit.
Speeding can result in significant fines, starting at R2500.
Be mindful of the wildlife around you—small creatures such as snakes, chameleons, and tortoises may be found
on the roads, and larger animals like warthogs and impalas can unexpectedly cross your path.
Noise Levels
Respect the tranquil atmosphere of the reserve by keeping noise levels to a minimum.
This is a residential wildlife area, and loud music, wild parties, or excessive noise can disturb both fellow visitors and residents.
If security is called due to noise disturbances, you may be subject to on-the-spot fines.
Firearms, Fires & Firewood
For safety reasons, no firearms are allowed on the property.
Please do not collect wood from the estate, as many trees can be poisonous,
and dead wood may harbor dangerous creatures like scorpions.
Firewood can be purchased at local stores.
Only use designated braai areas for fires, and ensure they are completely extinguished before leaving them unattended.
Power, Water & Air-Conditioning
Living in nature means occasional power outages and water shortages may occur.
Lanterns are available in each bedroom and the lounge for use during outages.
Please charge them afterwards.
Remember to turn off air-conditioners when leaving your villa, as excessive electricity usage may incur additional charges.
General Information
- Check-In/Out Times: Check-in is from 14:00 to 18:00, and check-out is at 10:00.
- Please inform us of your arrival and departure times for security gate access.
- Smoking: Smoking is not permitted inside your villa. Please dispose of cigarette butts in the provided ashtrays.
- Fires: Enjoy your braai, but ensure all flames and embers are fully extinguished before retiring for the night to prevent fire hazards.
- Toilets: Our plumbing is sensitive; please only dispose of biodegradable materials in the toilets and use the bins for other items.
Security
When leaving your villa, please ensure all windows and doors are securely closed.
Monkeys and baboons may enter if left open, which can lead to damage. Keep food out of sight,
as these animals may break windows to access it. Any damage caused could result in charges to your account.
Wildlife
Do not leave food outside or feed the wildlife, as they are unpredictable.
Be cautious of smaller creatures like centipedes and snakes.
While you can safely walk around during the day, exercise caution at night, as dangerous animals may be present.
